WHAT IS NATURE?
There are very few "natural" landscapes left; most of the landscapes we experience are modifications adapted to contemporary society's likings and current needs : landscapes which have been made and remade over time. These hybridised natural-cultural landscapes are interconnected systems. They are diverse imbedded infrastructures - they are dynamic and changing.
We should continue to utilize the power of design to research and engage the broader public and to modify their ideas of what a naturalistic landscape affected by human presence actually is. Seeing the landscape in the context of the 21st century will be crucial as we move forward in the attempt to rekindle our connected relationship to nature.
